Accessibility statement

Effective 2026-05-30 · Last updated 2026-05-30

EchoPersona is committed to making Carets usable by as many people as possible. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA on this Site and equivalent platform guidance (Apple's Human Interface Guidelines for Accessibility and Google's Android Accessibility) in the App.

In the App

  • Mirrors system settings live: Reduce Motion, Bold Text, Reduce Transparency, screen-reader detection.
  • All interactive elements declare accessibility role, label, and state.
  • Dynamic Type / font scaling is respected; editor font size is exposed as a discrete adjustable control with named increments.
  • Minimum 44pt tap targets (56pt when "Larger tap targets" is enabled in Settings → Accessibility).
  • High-contrast layer pushes contrast to WCAG AAA on the editor surface and the notes list.
  • Editor settings let you tune font family (including a dyslexia-friendly monospace option), size, line spacing, line-wrap, tab width, and theme in context.
  • The signature dark theme is colour-vetted for WCAG AA contrast on every syntax token; switching themes does not regress contrast on critical UI surfaces.

On the Site

  • Semantic HTML, keyboard-navigable, focus styles preserved.
  • Colour contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA across primary surfaces.
  • Cookie banner is dismissible with the keyboard and announced as a dialog.
  • Long-form legal content uses generous line-height, restrained line length (≤ 70ch), and clear heading scale steps.

Known limitations

The editor surface is rendered via a WebView-hosted CodeMirror instance for real syntax highlighting and regex search. We forward platform accessibility events into the WebView, but screen-reader behaviour inside a code editor depends on the engine and is not yet at parity with a native text input. Where this affects you, the App offers a "plain notes" view that uses the OS native text input and is fully accessibility-instrumented.

Tell us if something doesn't work

We treat accessibility issues as bugs. If you hit one — or want a specific accommodation — email support@carets.app with the page or screen, the assistive technology you use, and what happened. We aim to respond within five business days.
